My role as a therapist is to establish a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship with my clients. This is done by demonstrating compassion, acceptance, and encouragement in the work we do together. The "connection" that is established between the therapist and client is the foundation for change. I use an integrative treatment approach which provides me with the ability to make systematic and appropriate use of the best interventions from different theories. This flexibility allows me to tailor my approach for each of my clients. My focus in therapy is to help my clients gain a better understanding of themselves as individuals, and as family members, friends, and partners or spouses. Together we will work to clarify and/or establish goals and values, develop new skills and strategies for better understanding and communication, and learn new ways of dealing with stress and anxiety, and other emotional problems.
