College is an exciting time in life with many new opportunities. It is often a time when people get to make their own choices, explore new interests and meet new people. It can also be a time of uncertainty and change which can feel overwhelming. Balancing new responsibilities, living independently and creating a social group can be stressful. Students can often feel alone, isolated, and disconnected from others. I believe that everyone has a genuine need to feel valued and connected. I also believe that connection is the foundation in our lives. Exploring positive ways to cope with stress, understand emotions and build healthy connections is critical for success in college. I have over 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents, college students and adults. I worked on a college campus for 4 1/2 years helping students with life transitions, being the first in their family to attend college, social isolation, relationship conflicts, family difficulties, anxiety, OCD, depression, grief and loss, body image, eating disorders, LGBTQ, sexual assault, sexual abuse, PTSD and other trauma. I provide a safe and comfortable space for students to explore their concerns through the use of talk therapy, art, journaling, metaphors, guided imagery, and tools for managing their emotions and making positive changes in their lives.
