I have a specialization in working with college students. Prior to opening my private practice, my expertise in this area was honed over the past several years of training and work providing therapy and assessments at Pepperdine University, the University of Southern California, and the University of California, at Santa Cruz. I draw upon Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Feminist, Existential, Multicultural, and Cognitive Behavioral theories to inform my therapy work. I carefully consider each client’s needs and unique cultural perspective when creating an integrative treatment plan. I often emphasize the importance of gaining emotional insight while using more concrete strategies for skill building. I also enjoy including mindfulness and solution-focused approaches in much of my work. My approach to testing is designed to make the process comfortable and educational for the students and for any participating family members. I work with clients over multiple appointments - none longer than four hours each – to allow me to observe behavior and performance over a period of time. I focus on reinforcing strengths, and outlining strategies for improving areas of challenge. I will also assist students in coordinating with the Services to Students with Disabilities Department should additional support services be necessary for promoting academic success. I offer comprehensive assessments which focus on understanding of functioning related to cognition, learning, executive functioning, and emotional well-being.
