My philosophy of psychotherapy is humanistic at core, focusing on personal growth over pathology, diversity instead of uniformity, and understanding rather than judgement. My job is to create a safe and trusting atmopshere where your inner thoughts and feelings can be shared and examined, where I can meet you with empathy and authenticity, seeing the world through your eyes and reflecting it back to help you see yourself. Although I have extensive training in many therapuetic approaches, I use these without a fixed ideology. People grow in myriad ways and it is my job to find the theory that works for each individual rather than prescribing a set process for everyone. Nonetheless, I have learned that there are some common things that help all of us to be happy and fulfilled, so I share these with clients as they are relevant. Descartes said "I think therefore I am" but I believe we are because we feel. My therapeutic work is focused on helping others connect with their emotional lives and integrate the many different facets of themselves so that they can experience a more complete sense of self.
